In a remarkable gathering at Hotel Avatar, EVOLVE — A Women Entrepreneurs’ Association — hosted a powerful panel discussion titled “Empowerment: Myth or Reality.” The event brought together prominent women leaders from the city’s most influential business and professional networks, marking the first time such diverse changemakers shared one platform. With over fifty entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders in attendance, the afternoon transformed into a meaningful dialogue on what true empowerment looks like today.
The program began with a prayer by Secretary Ms. Nandita Rao, followed by a warm welcome from President Ms. Amrutha Nayak, who encouraged participants to rethink the assumptions surrounding empowerment.
Moderated by Ms. Vathika Pai, the first panel spotlighted community leadership, featuring insights from Ms. Rahasya Pai (KCCI), Ms. Athmika Amin (CII), Ms. Salome Lobo (YI), and Ms. Helen Alvares (BNI). They spoke about mentorship, intentional leadership, inclusivity, perseverance, and the strength of using one’s voice. Their experiences underscored a vital truth: empowerment flourishes in community, collaboration, especially when women lead with empathy and purpose.
The Second Panel, moderated by Ms. Raksha Bhat, shifted the focus inward — exploring emotional resilience, financial literacy, and self-awareness. Panelists Dr. Shilpa Shreyas (Moms of Mangalore), Ms. Alka Manoj (WNC), Ms. Rajeshwari (JCOM), and Ms. Tanuja (POWER) shared reflections shaped by motherhood, grassroots work, financial empowerment, and rural skill development. They highlighted that real empowerment is grounded in authenticity, mindful decisions, accountability, and the courage to rise after setbacks.
Concluding the program, Vice President Ms. Glancy Fernandes remarked that the gathering had not only discussed empowerment but truly embodied it.
A unique addition to the event was the Brand Showcase, where members and guests displayed their products and services at dedicated tables. Conversations continued long after the panel discussion, with participants building connections, exchanging ideas, and supporting the showcased brands through supportive purchases.
For EVOLVE, the event was a reaffirmation of its mission to uplift women entrepreneurs through mentorship, inclusion, and growth. It reinforced a powerful message: empowerment is not given — it is created, strengthened every time women come together with clarity, compassion, and courage.
